ArcelorMittal South Africa Foundation (AMSA Foundation) gave Exergy Enviro Group one of its unused buildings in Vanderbijlpark. Located at the AMSA Foundation's Business Park, just a few meters away from the iron and steel operations of AMSA.
The building will be transformed into a waste processing facility, with the primary focus in the granulating of PVC plastic for the market. The facility is situated in a 24-hour security area, boosting a clean environment, which epitomizes the philosophies of both companies on environmental sustainability.
Following the signing of a lease agreement, the project garnered interest from external stakeholders, from both the private sector and government institutions.
"We have engaged with a number of institutions in the public sector, which includes the CSIR and thedtic, and the outcomes of those discussions has proven to be fruitful so far, says Exergy Enviro Group's Managing Director - Innocent Sibeko".
Exergy Enviro Group would like to thank the team at the AMSA Matlafatso Incubation leadership, for making this a reality. The team, led by the former Incubation Hub's Technical Manager - Mr Willie van der Merwe, and current Technical Manager - Mr Wesley Nel, who went all out to convince the board of ArcelorMittal South Africa, as well as the board of AMSA Foundation to allow us the opportunity to occupy this highly sought operational space by many organizations.
The work could not be complete if it were not for the high-level intervention of the Incubation Hub's SHERQ Administrator - Mrs Chanselize Botes, who developed the ISO Integrated Management Systems for the optimal operation of the facility. Finally - the project could not go-ahead without the approval of the Chief Procurement Officer of AMSA and Chairman of AMSA Foundation - Mr Deon Mocke.
